David Baltuch served as professor of piano, harmony and music analysis for 15 years in the Belgian system of music academies (notably the academies of Braine-le-Comte, Jette, Schaerbeek, Wavre, Woluwé-Saint-Pierre and Watermael-Boitsfort), directed the Académie régionale de musique, de danse et des arts parlés de Farciennes (Belgium) for 23 years and serves as professor of music history and musicianship (analysis, counterpoint, harmony, world music) at the International School Musica Mundi since September 2018.
His various responsibilities have allowed him to develop an approach the pedagogy of various artistic fields with various perspectives. His educational convictions revolve around the following principles.
1. A relationship of deep mutual trust between the teacher and the student is essential for a pedagogical act to fully bear its fruit. Building and maintaining such a relationship constitutes an essential aspect of the educational process;
2. The choice of method of teaching and content to be taught will be all the more adequate if it results from a consensus between the teacher and the student;
3. This content, belonging most times to a common cultural reservoir between the teacher and the student, will call upon common references (acquired or to be acquired) and will be transmitted through a common vocabulary (established or to be established);
4. The scientific and technological advances will feed and guide the pedagogical content and methods;
5. The role of imagination, experimentation and expression in the learning process is primordial. Imagination will open the horizon of the student, experimentation will explore this horizon and expression will implement the newly acquired knowledge. All three (imagination, experimentation and expression) will serve as a pedagogical incentive that will contribute significantly to the student’s self-confidence;
6. The great figures from the past will happily inspire students and help them crystallize their ideals and guide them towards self-accomplishment.
